See the Polish bio-business opportunities
One of the prior sectors of Polish economy is biotech branch. The government supports investments in this area. Only between 2007-2013 EUR 10 Bn were invested from EU Innovative Economy Operational Programme.
Plenty on new biotech companies were settled in recent years. They work on several fields: Life-science and biotech business, R&D, Health care, Cosmetics, Bioinformatics, Education, Business support. Among all of those companies, over 30 are diagnostic enterprises responsible for R&D, implementation of services in pharmaceutical products, food & cosmetics control.
Poland has five major bio-regions: Malopolska, Lodzkie, Pomoskie, Dolny Slask, Wielkopolska. In those places there already operate many different firms in biotech sector, as a result of which there’s no problem in finding sub-contractors.
In all bio-regions strong emphasis is put on establishing new networks supporting innovation development, especially building a strong cooperation in science 2 business and business 2 business environment. The main issue of such networks is as well the introduction of the new members from the global market to the network and supporting the network members towards effective engagement in the global life science market.
In Poland the majority of biotech companies is incorporated in many networks and cooperations’ programs.
An excellent example is the project of LifeScience Cluster Krakow. It is network of regional institutions representing different life-science-dedicated entities, ranging from business to research & development to higher education to healthcare to business support with the active participation and help of local government.
