Literally every discovery, every improvement emerged because people were curious. Because they asked engaging questions that invited creativity and breakthrough thinking. Recall who once asked: “What might DNA look like in a 3D form?” It’s hard to imagine how the bio-science would look like if it wasn’t for that type of curiosity!

Whether it is a question that floated in your mind, which is essential for the development of biotechnology? Don’t hesitate to ask. There is no unreasonable questions, there are only silly answers.

Now think about an approach of another Genius – ALBERT EINSTEIN:

“If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on the solution, I would spend the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask, for once I know the proper question, I could solve the problem in less than five minutes.”

Why are we focused on having the “right answer” rather than discovering the “right question”? Are we afraid of other’s opinions and perspectives, particularly ones that might challenge our own assumptions?

Sure we ask lot of questions, but are they challenging enough to make a difference? And what it takes to post really powerful question?

In her book “The Art of the Question”, Marilee Goldberg says,”A paradigm shift occurs when a question is asked inside the current paradigm that can only be answered from outside it.” It’s this kind of paradigm shift, based on powerful questions, that may be necessary to create truly innovative solutions to our most pressing concerns. Our capacity to raise penetrating questions that challenge current operating assumptions will be key to creating positive futures.

Here is the deal for BIO community:

  • Why don’t we, while gathered on BIO 2011 International Convention in Washington, engage in common endeavor to practice a kind of thought experiment aimed to collect and share Questions That Matter.
  • Why don’t You to show up at the Pavilion # 1137 and apply your idea. We’re just going to ask you one question: “What’s the question we should be asking?”
  • You can spot your own question or build on questions of other’s. Be curious. Your question will be recorded and posted on project website in order to share within the biotech community. It may have a power to stimulate reflective conversation or may touch a deep meaning or generate curiosity in the listeners.

Satisfaction guaranteed! You will be curious about what the next questions will be.

One Response to QUESTIONS THAT MATTER…

  1. This is the right approach for success !

    Cheers
