About Polish bio-tech capability

Access to talents! Poland offers not only touristic attractions, the regions’ strength is scientific capital! High research potential provides huge opportunity for creation a dynamic biotech industry.

The most significant factor, why Poland is one of the world’s most attractive locations for international biotechnology operations, are highly educated young scientists graduating from Polish universities. Well-educated Polish scientists are highly sought-after and appreciated employees who find employment in diversified research areas covered by specialized scientific institutions. Our specialized graduates are well regarded for their expertise, knowledge and industriousness.

Main Polish universities are located in five regions in Poland: Malopolska Region (Kraków), Dolny Slask Region ( Wrocław), Pomorze Region (Gdańsk), Wielkopolska Region (Poznań) and Mazowsze Region (Warszawa).

The most dynamic research is carried out by the Jagiellonian University, The Medical University of Gdańsk, University of Warsaw, University of Wrocław, University of Łódź, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the Technical University of Łódź, Warsaw University of Life Science- SGGW.

Poland’s biotechnology sector is represented not only by numerous companies but although by 8 000 biotech students, 1 300 of them graduates every year. In Poland 36 universities is lecturing biotechnology, where 30 of them is offering Ph.D studies. These outstanding scientific institutes ensure constant outflow of graduates – specialists in biotechnology, molecular biology, microbiology and chemistry, determining the constant development of the regions. Only in Malopolska Region in the life science branch works 3700 scientists, including 600 professors, over 2000 Ph.D’s and 16 000 students. It makes around 10% of total number of students in Poland!

Polish institutes conduct plenty of excellent ideas and research projects, which give splendid opportunities for innovative business. At colleges a unique equipment and R&D laboratories are in disposal. Our immense scientific potential exerts direct influence on science development. The importance of bio-innovation research allows to include Poland to the recognized scientific centers in the world.

Quick ability to implementation of scientific achievements to the business practice is a precondition for effective economic development in the whole country and determines bio-business cooperation with the rest of the Europe and the world.
